Yoga Techniques to Lift Your Mood: Simple Yoga Practices for Depression and Anxiety

Depression & Anxiety

How does yoga help regulate mood? What do we know by now about the pathways through which yoga enhances well-being and makes us feel like a million dollars? And which are some of the timeless strategies that we can use in our own life, even when we’re not on the mat? In this two-part online yoga course, long-time yoga therapist Amy Weintraub, widely renowned for her work with yoga for depression shares simple strategies anyone can adopt to balance mood and uplift emotions.

Based on her recently released book, Yoga Skills for Therapists: Effective Practices for Mood Management, Amy offers hands-on, practical tips for clearing the space as well as strategies for shifting your perspective and clearing blockages that may be interfering with your well-being.

Amy guides us through a powerful practice of hand mudras anyone can do to calm and center even the most turbulent mind, and offers key calming breathing practices to ground and balance mind and emotions during stressful and challenging times.

Amy also guides two yogic self-inquiry practices, – non-dual practices to help us move beyond “our story,” become more aware of mental habits that don’t serve us, and adopt a broader and more balanced perspective on life.

This Course Also Includes:

  • Audio Recordings: Yoga Nidra and Chakra Clearing Practice with Amy! As a special bonus, all participants will receive a soothing recorded yoga nidra practice designed to induce greater relaxation and stress relief. The course also comes with two versions of the LifeForce Yoga Chakra Clearing Meditation, a 25-minute version and a shorter 15-minute version for those days when you don’t have as much time.
  • Recordings of Both Sessions: Yours to keep. It’s generally acknowledged that many people only retain 10-20 percent of what they learn in a workshop. You will get the recordings of both sessions (both MP3 and MP4), enabling you to go back and listen to the workshop as many times as you like.
  • Transcripts of Both Sessions: Ever wanted to refer to a certain part of a course? Even the best note takers miss a point every so often. With the transcripts of the sessions, you can go back and refer to particularly important passages or clarify sections you were in doubt about.

This course qualifies for 2.5 CEs with Yoga Alliance.

Amy Weintraub, MFA, E-RYT 500, director of the LifeForce Yoga Healing Institute and author of the bestselling Yoga for Depression (Broadway Books), has been a pioneer in the field of yoga and mental health for over 20 years.
